Pumping it

Post image

Nice to have water at 140 meters deep. Even better to have it above the ground!

The pump has actually two parts: a pump and a electric motor. The combination is very, very heavy. The white line is needed to hold the pump at a certain level.

We are told the pump is at 80 meters. The water normally stands at only 10 meters deep. But as soon as the pumping starts, the level drops to 50 - 60 meters. We can pump about 2 m3 liters per hour with a pressure of 3 - 4 bar (the pressure drops after a few hours of pumping).

Our license allows for 4000 m3 per year. Meaning we could pump 5,5 hours every day of the year. Should be enough!

The pump is installed by a father with his son. Below unrolling the thick and very long tubes.

At the top a small concrete cube protects the connections and the water meter.

The pump is controlled from a panel on the pressure barrel.
