Finally, today the works for our own water hole started. The goal is using this water for the irrigation of our dearest plants.
We asked for a license a while ago, but unfortunately that one expired because the land was not yet in our name. Like everything else these things take time. One month for the license, a few weeks for the company to plan their visit.
It took about three days of setting up, drilling and preserving the hole. A lot of machinery is needed and the area became very quickly a big mess. They are just there to make a hole, not minding us or the land.
First some soil came out, but quickly they had to drill mainly through stone. The crushing and pulverizing results in a grey dust that covered the land and houses.
The next day they asked for a water hose to bind the dust. But it never came to that as soon the dust became muddy itself from water below.
The same day a dust cloud from the Sahara passed by, resulting a really dystopian atmosphere. This photo with seemingly a yellow filter is real!
And at least now there was something like water! Being good sales people, they were confident all along, but I was not too sure…
The drilling continued and slowly the water became more clear. Finally they stopped at 140 meters deep. The sides covered with big blue pipes. Inside these pipes is a thinner pipe. The two sets of pipes are separated by a kind of granule stones, almost sand, to filter the water.
