It is a long wait, Portuguese mills dó mill slowly, add Covid to that - the global excuse for anything - plus a full month of nothing - which is August - and one realizes patience is the word. Next, comes joy. Because there is absolutely no use in being patient grumpily (although it is often tempting).
Lucky for us, the owners allowed us to spend some summertime in the old grandma house. Miguel and his three daughters visited us and also João, Mechteld and their daughter Galicia spent some wonderful time with us and the owners.
Clearly the outside kitchen is the center of the life and day. After his morning job we see senhor Rui create the daily meals of the family in it - potatoes of the land, grilled fresh fish - and we grow fond of the idea of doing the same ourselves in the future. We feel grateful for this taster of the life to come.
